The latest single from Max Winter is the excellent ‘O Matter’. His previous releases focused more on sound and texture, but with ‘O Matter’ he has shown an ability to compose a more traditionally structured piece, combining acoustic and electronic instruments in a more song-oriented way. The end result is a unique mixture of drum and guitar fragments, deconstructed vocal melodies, thick bass and lo-fi beats. “One of my intentions was to always have it anchored by a clear melody, to help deal with the chaos around it,” he says. “In the end it turned into some kind of Mariah Carey feature on a glitch rock tune. I think it shows how my sounds has developed from my last release.” Max Winter will be working on more music over the course of 2023. -Dan Peeke
